Roteiro: Proposed Route
The route starts with the intensity of the Northern Pantanal, then opens into the visual calm of Lencois Maranhenses and the Parnaiba Delta. It gives you wildlife first, then space, water, sand and coastline, with each transfer becoming part of the story.
Cuiaba to Northern Pantanal
Arrival in Cuiaba and private transfer north, approximately three hours. The road itself is already part of it: open savanna, increasing wildlife density, the first caiman visible from the vehicle. Pantanal: Jaguar Circuit
Early morning boat departure on the Cuiaba River. The Northern Pantanal has the highest jaguar sighting density in the world. It is not guaranteed, but the conditions here are as good as they get. Afternoon: caiman walk and hyacinth macaw observation from the lodge deck.Continuing, Pousada Aguape
Cuiaba to Sao Luis
Return transfer to Cuiaba airport. Afternoon flight to Sao Luis, approximately three hours with connection. Overnight in the city before entering the dunes region.1 night, hotel in Sao Luis
Santo Amaro: Lencois Maranhenses
Private minibus transfer to Santo Amaro. First afternoon: open-vehicle excursion into the park to the Gaivota and Andorinha lagoons. Day two: the full Betania circuit with dune walls, coloured lagoons and lunch in a small village. Day three: Lagoa das Emendadas, accessible only on foot, returning after dark.3 nights, Pousada Rancho das Dunas, Santo Amaro
Barreirinhas
Transfer to Barreirinhas. Afternoon boat tour on the Preguicas river, slow and quiet after the more active dune days. Day two: Lagoa Bonita circuit and cashew farm visit.2 nights, Porto Preguicas Hotel
Atins to Parnaiba Delta
Overland through the park by open vehicle to Atins. The following morning: speedboat departure for the full Delta crossing, from Tutoia to Parnaiba. Mangroves, crab fishing stops, river beaches and the red ibis flight at dusk.1 night, Pousada Vila Camurim, Atins
Barra Grande and departure
Transfer to Barra Grande on the Piaui coast. One rest day on the beach before the return journey to Fortaleza and onward flights.1 night, Pousada BGK, Barra Grande
